Morning Glory – “Our premium sea kayaking adventure”

Slideshow

Paddle the full length of Milford to the Tasman Sea (weather permitting) before returning on our water taxi. Limited to just 7 people. This is our premium sea kayak excursion. Suitable for experienced kayakers.

Rise and shine! You’ll need to be up before dawn to join our small group of kayakers keen to experience Milford Sound at its best! We meet you at Milford Sound Lodge and transport you to ‘Paddle On Inn’ – our base at Deep Water Basin. Here we change into paddling attire and go through a complete safety and paddle briefing before we launch the comfortable double sea kayaks at the boat ramp.

We paddle out of the basin to the mouth of the Arthur River. Approaching the towering northern cliffs of Milford Sound, you skirt the boulders at the foot of Lady Bowen Falls (160m); the highest permanent waterfall in Milford, continuing under the Cascade Peaks (1209m) to Harrison Cove. Mt Pembroke, the highest mountain in Milford Sound towers above us at 2015m. Rounding Williamson Point we head to Stirling Falls cascading a huge 151m directly into the sea. You have the option of paddling in under its cascading curtain of icy glacier melt or simply admiring it from a distance. Paddle around the headland you get your first glimpse of the Tasman Sea out to Anita Bay and the Saint Anne Point Lighthouse. Here in the sheltered waters of the bay, you board our Sea Shuttle and while the kayaks are being hoisted onboard you can reflect on a day filled with memories that will last a lifetime.

Please note: this trip may run in reverse if tide or weather conditions dictate. Pickups with the Sea Shuttle may vary from those stated as your comfort and safety are our priority. A hearty breakfast is recommended. Take along a good stash of snacks to keep your energy levels up. Paddle experience and good general outdoor fitness is essential for his adventure.

Wow, what a fantastic day, more than we’d hoped for. Tex was an excellent guide, very entertaining and we were totally blown away by the dolphins – Jenny (Ireland)
