This is where you will meet your guide and begin your trip. Look out for the green tent, the yellow kayaks and your Rosco’s guide at the end of Deepwater Basin Road!

Please note: Milford Sound is 4+ hours’ drive from Queenstown and 2+ hours’ drive from Te Anau, road and weather conditions permitting, so give yourself plenty of time to get here – or book yourself on our Day Safari and let us do the driving for you!

Please be aware that there is no phone reception once you leave Te Anau and enter Fiordland National Park.

RISK INFORMATION 

  • Sea kayaking in Milford Sound is characterized by remoteness, rapidly changing weather and water conditions, cold water and in many cases limited landing sites. Potential risks also include but are not limited to; treefalls, rockfalls, earthquakes, tsunamis, flooding, other watercraft, aircraft, storms, wind, waves, capsize and wildlife. Your guides are trained in all safety and risk procedures and will provide you with a pre-trip safety briefing, paddling instruction and ongoing safety management throughout the duration of your trip. Clients must follow the guide’s instructions and adhere to our safety requirements. Children 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult in the kayak.
  • Sea kayaking and associated activities have inherent risks and can be dangerous with risk of serious harm or death. Before your trip, your guide will check you have filled out a waiver form online, if not they will request you sign a form to evidence your understanding of the Terms & Conditions, including a medical release.
